1. Add Bookmarks
Since bookmarks provide ease of accessibility, you can easily grab your user’s attention towards your business. Having a browser app will help you set customized bookmarks. Luckily, with the template, you can set pre-defined bookmarks that will help you represent your business from different perspectives.
After reading out the template description and clicking on the Next button, you will be provided a new screen that will help make your bookmarks. You can add as many bookmarks as you want, but you must define six bookmarks at first.
Just place the title of the bookmark in the title section and the website link in the link section. For example, a bookmark of the website of AppsGeyser will contain the title of “AppsGeyser” and the website link as https://appsgeyser.com/.
You can also add a bookmark icon with the recommended dimensions of 96×96. Just click on the Attach Image button to upload the bookmark icon from your computer files. Also, try to compress image files before uploading them to the template as it can make the app speedier.
After setting up the first six bookmarks for your browser app, you will have another glossy option to include a background image. We prefer adding an HD quality image to provide an impact and a good user experience. After uploading the background image by clicking on the Attach Image button, you are all set to move out to the next step by clicking on the Next button.
2. Choose the Home Page Type
The second step is to choose the home page type from various customizable options provided by the template. There are three primary home page type options to choose from. These are as follows:
- Default home page style with widgets (weather, news, history, downloads)
- Custom homepage with HTML scripting
- Any custom website to be shown as a homepage
As you can see in the screenshot, three flexible options are given for the app’s home page. Choosing the Widgets option will provide you our pre-defined bookmark categories with a unique style. You can set a lot of things regardless of its preset widgets such as color, style, and positions.
After scrolling down on the Widget’s menu, you can customize five widgets, namely:
- News
- History
- Bookmark
- Weather
- Downloads
At first, you need to decide whether to add a particular widget on the home page or not. If you don’t want any widget to be a part of your app’s home page, then you can simply disable it using the corresponding checkbox on each Widget.
All of the widgets have some full-featured styles from where you can choose a style for that particular Widget. You can observe these styles by clicking on the maximize icon on the top right of these styles. You can also specify widget colors by scrolling down to each Widget.
Positioning these widgets has also been a lot easier than traditional templates, thanks to the customizability of the AppsGeyser’s browser app template. For the news widget, you can simply position the Widget according to your needs.
By clicking on the Custom homepage tab, you can upload your pre-customized home page HTML file to make it more vibrant for your business needs. Make sure to upload the file, which is pre-tested because it will make your app development experience more bug-free and user-ready.
Luckily, you can also set a website URL to be accessed as the home page of the browser app. It is a great way to brand your business and reach more audiences. You can simply do that by clicking on the Website tab and writing your start page URL on which you want the users to land. After finishing up the home page selection process, proceed by clicking on the Next button at the bottom.
3. Appearance Settings
With a bunch of appearance options, the appearance settings can be set after the home page type customizations. From toolbar styles to drawer positions, there are numerous features that you can manipulate according to your suitability.
There are three toolbar styles to choose from in the appearance settings. You can check out each one by clicking on the maximize button on the top right corner of their thumbnails. After selecting your appropriate looking style, now it’s time to decide on which position the toolbar should be displayed on the app.
After that, you can mark the checkbox if you want the tabs to be shown in the navigation drawer. There are two drawer positions to choose from. One drawer shows up from the left side and the other one from the right side. Normally, the drawer with left side positioning is chosen, but you can also choose the right one to add more uniqueness to your browser app in Android.
The status bar can also be enabled just after the drawer positioning option. It is good to add a status bar to show more information to the user, but if you don’t want to mess it up, you can also uncheck this.
Fullscreen mode can also be implemented by just playing up with the checkbox corresponding to it just after the status bar checkbox. A search bar notification can also be enabled through the checkbox, as well as the weather notification. After all of the customizations, you can hit Next.
4. App Name
You are just two short steps away from having an awesome browser app. The second last is to name your app. Naming a browser app is a smart task. You should have to consider every aspect regarding your business and the nature of your audience before naming the app.
After writing the perfect and most appropriate name of your browser app, click Next to proceed.
